Don Grosh Bent Top Custom – In The House!

Check my gallery for some pics of this awesome new guitar UPS delivered today. I purchased it from a real stand up guy named Eugene from TGP. I had been admiring the guitar for some time and finally decided I wanted to go for it. Luckily someone bailed out of the transaction and I was able to strike an agreeable deal for it.

My one concern was that the mahogany/maple combo would make for a strange sounding strat, or at least not the real bell-like vintage sound I’ve been craving. After trying about two different positions of the 5-way switch all my fears were allayed. This thing’s 100% strat, but with some added versatility owing to a Fralin unbucker and Grosh’s exceptional tone/blender button. I’ve yet to really put the guitar to the test, but 20 minutes of playing it through my Rivera Jake have made me very happy.

My one complaint is that the guitar is so beautiful that I’m kinda’ scared to give it the beating up a good guitar should get. I’m sure I’ll get over it and play the hell out of this thing, but it’s just getting over the fear of tarnishing something so nice that’s so hard.

I’m at the vet writing this on my Treo 650. Izzy’s here for his yearly exam, so he’s gonna get poked up real good. He’s pretty nervous, but he’s dealing pretty well…no histrionics.
